60 + Years Submission

We were invited to submit a design for 60+ Years Project setup by designer Zara Arshad. Here are some sneek peeks of our submission, literally based on the idea of freedom of speech we laid out a grid of open black on white speech marks on one side of a picket and a white on black closed marks on the reverse. There are 26 speech mark styles each taken from a font corresponding to a letter of the alphabet. You can find out more about the project and the contributors here.

Sorry I’m Late T-Shirt Available Now

We were delighted to be asked to guest design a T-shirt for Danish proprietor of designer loveliness Superfancy. Here is the finished design which is now available to order in a variety of colours and sizes here. Thank to Søren at Superfancy for the opportunity and were excited to see some finished Tee’s arrive at the studio.

DAHRA – Memories Submission

We were delighted to be selected to contribute an illustration (Sneek peek above) to the upcoming project ‘Memories’ by Designers Against Human Rights Abuse (DAHRA). Cancer is such a pervasive killer these days that few of us go through life untouched by the disease. DAHRA decided to do something about it by launching the Memories project and the outcome will be a beautiful art book and exhibition. Proceeds from the sales of Memories will go to the charity Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres. Find out more about the project here

Abstain-Democracy

Effektive_Definition

Finally got round to coming up with a couple of ideas for the Create Democracy exhibition which is going to form part of the Design Event 09. The first of my submissions is called Abstain (shown above) and uses two iconic political campaign shapes overlaping to create a ‘grey area’ in which people can abstain from voting. The second is called ‘Definition’ and is based on the fact that after a Wikipedia search the term democracy has no universally excepted definition, which I enjoyed the irony of. The tape element is hint at the looseness of the term and the idea of holding it all together. If you think either design should be part of the exhibition then vote for them here. Well… c’mon people!

I was asked to contribute to a book called The field Guide for Graphic Designers about a year ago just before my move to Sydney and I have just received my copy of the book which has just been published in the UK by Rockport. Its a great little book with lots of great contributions such as Toko, Frank Chimero, Troika, Xavier Encinas, Hinterland and Roanne Adams amongst others. The book is out now priced £19.99 and is a worthwhile read for any designer young or old. Thanks to Ana Labudovic and MaoMao publications for all their help.

So in a bid to revisit some great sites we have decided to start re-posting all of our lost boomarks to create a visual reference of what made us bookmark them in the first place.
